Ultimately, breast lift cost is based on several factors, which all come together to give you your final estimate. And the truth is, there is no one-size-fits-all cost for this or any other plastic surgery.
Too many variables must be evaluated. Breast lift surgery (or mastopexy as it is sometimes called) is a major cosmetic procedure that requires care, skill, and special technologies from a number of different parties.
Naturally, your plastic surgeon will be your main provider. But fees and costs will also need to be negotiated with anesthesiologists, hospitals or surgical facilities, and other entities.
Let’s take a look at a brief cost breakdown for breast lift surgery.
How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost? A Cost Breakdown
#1 – Surgeon’s Fee
The cost of your breast lift procedure will be heavily dictated by the surgeon’s fee that your plastic surgeon charges for their treatment and care. These fees are usually based on the surgeon’s training, level of skill, experience, and demand among patients.
#2 – Type of Breast Lift and Scope of Surgery
There are three main types of breast lifts: donut lifts, lollipop lifts, and anchor lifts. Each one is based on the associated incision pattern and the amount of excess skin that must be removed.
Donut lifts are for patients who have only a small amount of excess skin and breast tissue to be removed. This type of breast lift will require an incision to be made around the areola.
For a little bit more breast sag and excess skin removal, a lollipop lift may be performed. This incision pattern involves a donut incision alongside an additional incision that runs from the bottom of the areola down to the breast crease.
Finally, an anchor lift is for patients who need a significant amount of excess skin removal and who require a more substantial lift. Often, the areolae and nipples will need to be relocated as well. The anchor lift incision pattern is a lollipop lift with the addition of a third incision that is made along the breast crease or inframammary fold.
Based on the type of breast lift surgery you plan to have and the scope of your procedure, the final cost may go up or down.
#3 – Geographic Location
Believe it or not, the geographic location of your procedure will also influence cost. As a general rule, if you undergo surgery in a large city, you’re going to pay more.
#4 – Hospital or Surgical Facility Costs
Hospitals and surgical facilities also charge their own fees. Sometimes, these costs are worked into your surgeon’s fee, and sometimes, they are itemized separately.
#5 – Anesthesia Type
Your surgeon will work with certain anesthesiologists regularly. Just as plastic surgeons charge their own fees, anesthesiologists do as well.
Furthermore, general anesthesia and local anesthesia come with different price points. And finally, remember that the longer you are in surgery (in the operating room), the higher the cost of anesthesia as well.
#6 – Incidentals and Aftercare Costs
Lastly, there are often additional incidental costs to consider. These might include aftercare follow-up appointments with your surgeon, scar creams, scar massage, in-home care or meal services (if you choose to have these), medications, and more.
FAQ: Breast Lift Surgery
How much does a breast lift and augmentation cost?
Some patients may choose a combination breast lift and breast augmentation surgery. Like breast lift surgeries, breast augmentations include all of the factors listed above, so combining these two procedures can make the cost rise significantly. Plus, a breast augmentation procedure also requires the purchase of implants.
With that said, when you choose to undergo a breast lift at the same time as a breast augmentation (breast implants), you’re actually cutting the overall cost because you’ll have only one surgery, one hospital stay, one dose of anesthetic, one recovery, etc.
How much does a breast lift and reduction cost?
Most breast reduction procedures actually include a breast lift. So, the breast reduction and lift cost is usually comparable to the typical breast reduction cost. Of course, if your breast reduction does not require a lift portion, any breast lift costs will naturally not be considered.
Will I have scars after a breast lift?
Breast lift scars are an inevitable part of breast lift surgery. In fact, breast surgery in general (and nearly every serious cosmetic surgery for that matter) almost always requires incisions, and thus, scars.
If you want to see what scars typically look like after breast lift surgery, we recommend looking up pictures of breast lift results. Breast lift before and after pictures will show patients’ new breast shape once their full breast lift recovery time is complete.
