Arm Lift

The arms can lose their contour due to excess skin or subcutaneous fat after weight loss or secondary to aging. The goal of an arm lift or brachioplasty is to remove any excess skin or fat to provide a better contour to the upper arm. Dr. Mohan performs arm lifts and brachioplasty to improve the appearance of the upper arm to provide a more youthful and contoured look.

Goals of Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)

The goal of a brachioplasty (arm lift) is to remove excess skin and fat in the upper arm between the shoulder and elbow. The outcome should improve the contour of the arm and keep it proportionate with the rest of the extremity.

During the procedure, an incision is made in the upper arm to remove a wedge of excess tissue. The length of the incision depends on the amount of excess skin and fat present. Liposuction is also performed during the procedure to remove excess fat.

Candidates for Brachioplasty

Patients with extra skin and fat in the upper arm are typically good candidates for the procedures. Patients have been at a stable weight are optimal candidates because weight fluctuations after surgery could affect the aesthetic outcome.

At the first visit, Dr. Mohan will discuss your goals and devise a treatment plan to achieve the look you are wanting. A thorough history and physical will be performed to determine how much skin and fat excess is present.

What to Expect After Surgery

It is normal to have swelling and bruising after surgery which is why we recommend the use of post-operative compression garments. Pain after the procedure is mild and controlled with oral medications. Brachioplasty (arm lift) can be combined with other procedures such as abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) or breast procedures.

"Dr. Mohan is one of a kind. He does the little things that mean so much. After my surgery, he took the time to reach out to my husband to check on how I was doing and later reached out to myself. When I told him to never forget those little things, he said "I feel about my patients, the way I do about my children. I worry about them". Truly unique in the busy world we now live in. If you want a Physician "who sees you", Dr. Mohan is the one for you. And I almost forgot, he's a great surgeon."
