Weight changes can lead to changes in the appearance and elasticity of the skin of the abdomen, back, thighs, and buttocks. A lower body lift is a procedure that combines a buttock and lower back lift. The procedure removes excess skin and fat deposits from these areas. Sometimes liposuction and an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) can be combined and this procedure is called a circumferential body lift.
This procedure is meant for patients with excess skin in the abdomen, back, thighs, hips, and lower back. Most patients who are candidates for this procedure have lost significant weight.
An incision is made along the lower back or waistline below the areas where the excess tissue will be removed. The objective is to remove excess skin and fat and lift the tissue that will remain to create a more contoured look. This will improve the appearance of the lower back and the buttock.
We recommend an overnight stay at a hospital or with a personal nurse to ensure a smooth recovery. You will follow up closely with Dr. Mohan so he can monitor the healing. Patients will have drains to collect fluid and they will be removed during the post-operative visits when their drainage is low. Most patients can return to light duties and desk work after 2 weeks of recovery. Strenuous activity such as exercise, sports, heavy lifting, and bending over should be avoided for 4-6 weeks after surgery. Dr. Mohan is fellowship-trained in aesthetic surgery and has extensive experience in body contouring.
